09.11.22—20:00    RUISKAMER #2: Clara Levy / Astrid Sonne MIRY Concertzaal concert

At 18:30, a free artist talk with Clara Levy kicks off the evening for KASK & Conservatorium students and all those interested.

Clara Levy

Clara Levy, is a French violinist based in Brussels since 2011. She is mainly active in the field of contemporary and experimental music and plays regularly with ensembles such as the French Hanatsu Miroir but also in her own country with groups such as Ictus, Ensemble 21 and Ensemble Hopper. She has collaborated with composers such as Fritz Hauser, Erika Vega, Jürg Frey, Michael Grebil-Liber, Kaija Saariaho, Michael Beil, Klaus Lang, Szymon Brzoska, and Karl Naegelen, and has toured as a musician with dance and theatre makers such as Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Vera Tussing, and Jan Rohwedder. She is currently touring Europe with her latest solo project “13 visions”, a fictional meeting between Pauline Oliveros and Hildegard Von Bingen. This new album will be released in autumn 2022 on the label “Discreet editions”. Since 2022 Clara Levy is also co-curator of the vibrant Brussels concert series SMOG.

Astrid Sonne

With a background in classical music, a cinematic sounding viola and a solid portion of electronics, Danish composer and musician Astrid Sonne seems the perfect match for Ruiskamer. Her cross-genre compositions include synthesizers, choral samples and viola sequences, but at the same time pay homage to Sonne’s sources of inspiration – either the Danish choral tradition (she has a background in classical music) or noise soundscapes. The versatile musician is often asked to write compositions, resulting in diverse work: for example, she wrote ‘Ephemeral’ for Berlin Atonal 2018, but equally site-specific compositions for the ancient ruins under the Danish Parliament and part of the Copenhagen Metro Line.
