Daan Janssens


Daan Janssens (Bruges,°1983) studied composition and conducting at the Ghent Conservatory with Frank Nuyts, Filip Rathé and Godfried-Willem Raes. He attended different international master classes and seminars, both as composer (with Luca Francesconi, Peter Eötvös, James Dillon, Magnus Lindberg…); as well as conductor (with Lucas Vis, Ensemble Modern, Johannes Kalitzke, and Marco Angius).
His music has been performed by Ensemble Intercontemporain, the Gulbenkian Orchestra Lisbon, the Spectra ensemble, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain, Aton’ & Armide, Musiques Nouvelles, Vocaallab and soloist Luigi Gaggero… on festivals and venues such as TRANSIT festival, Concertgebouw Brugge, De Singel, Ars Musica, Kaaitheater, November Music, ISCM world music days 2009, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, Festival Musica Strasbourg...
Since 2006 he regularly conducts the contemporary music ensemble Nadar, and performed with this ensemble at Ars Musica Fagey, TRANSIT festival, Darmstädter Ferienkurse, Festival Musica Strasbourg, Donaueschinger Musiktage…
