Wannes Gyselinck

Theory

Wannes Gyselinck (b. 1980) studied classical languages at UGent and wrote a doctoral thesis on irony and metaphorality in ancient Greek rhetorical texts. Wannes is active as a dramatist, theatre-maker and publicist about music, theatre and literature. For composer Joris Blanckaert he wrote the libretto The Wandering Womb, a sung one-character musical theatrepiece for soprano Elise Caluwaerts and the Maeterlinck Quartet (2013). Since 2014, Wannes has been an editor on stage at rekto:verso. As a member of the music/theatre collective Mambocito Mio, he made the family performance Broken Dreams in 2013 (with Anna Vercammen and Johan De Smet, in collaboration with the Kopergietery).

In 2015 he took care of the dramaturgy and he co-authored the monologue Socrates (Stefaan Van Brabandt/Bruno Vanden Broecke). Wannes Gyselinck has been a member of the Hof van Eede since 2013.
