18.10.18—20:00    MIRY Song: Denzil Delaere - Concerning Beethoven MIRYconcertzaal concert

It seems to have been an unwritten rule among portraitists in the early nineteenth century: 'Whoever has Beethoven sitting in front of his easel, by all means avoid any sign of zest for life'. Indeed, in paint the Bonn master always meets our eye scowling. And yet, if we are to believe his biographers, Ludwig was not without a sense of humour and greatly appreciated good company. Tenor Denzil Delaere takes us on an anecdotal journey, focussing on Beethoven's encounters with his composer colleagues. Dramatis personae: teacher Haydn, predecessor Mozart, child prodigy Liszt, admirer Schubert and colleague Rossini.
