In order to enrol in a bachelor programme you must hold a Belgian secondary school diploma. Additionally, for the Visual Arts, Audio-Visual Arts, Music, and Drama programmes you are required to pass the artistic entrance test.
In order to enrol in a master programme in the arts you must hold the appropriate preparatory academic diploma. You are also required to participate in an orientation test.
If you would like to take up a master programme but do not hold the appropriate preparatory bachelor’s degree, you can check whether you can enrol in a bridging programme. For more information on this you can contact your learning track counsellor.
Candidates for bridging and preparatory programmes follow the same procedure as candidates for a master programme.
Candidates with a foreign diploma
If you hold a foreign diploma you can only enrol in a programme after the university college’s Education Office has approved of your application. More info on this procedure can be found at hogent.be. After preliminary registration or registration for the admission test you will receive more information.
For candidates for a bridging or master programme this approval is included in the procedure and these candidates are thus not required to take further steps to obtain it. Candidates for a bachelor programme are strongly advised to start the preliminary registration and approval procedure in time; i.e. on 1 June at the latest, so that it can be completed before the start of the academic year. This is specifically important for the artistic entrance test or enrolment in the programme.
Foreign-language students going in for a Dutch-language bachelor of Visual Arts, Audio-Visual Arts, Music, or Drama are advised to read through the information here.
Foreign-language students going in for a programme in Interior Design, Landscape and garden architecture, or Landscape development must hold a ‘Vantage’ level certificate of language proficiency in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR B2).
Admission to the advanced bachelor of landscape development

Admission to the bachelor of interior design in distance learning
As distance learning is a very specific form of education, each candidate for this programme is required to do an intake interview. More information will be given upon preliminary registration, or can be consulted in the interior design distance learning brochure (Dutch).
Admission to the postgraduate of curatorial studies
Candidates for the postgraduate of Curatorial Studies must hold a master’s degree or an equivalent thereof (no vocational bachelor’s degree). There is an additional exploratory interview. More information will be given upon preliminary registration.
Admission to the advanced master in Contemporary Music
In order to be admitted to the advanced master programme you must hold a master’s degree in music. Candidates for the advanced master follow the same procedure as candidates for the master of music.
Study progress monitoring
Candidates who have previously, unsuccessfully, been enrolled in a higher education programme must additionally take the university college’s specific progress measures into account. For more information contact the study and learning path coach.
If you would like further information on one of the points above, or if you have further questions, you are welcome to contact your programme’s learning study and learning path coach.
