The International Master in Composition for Screen (InMICS) is a joint master’s degree programme dedicated to international students wishing to work as composers for audiovisual media. InMICS was created by a partnership of European and Canadian higher art education institutes and professional organizations in the field of audiovisual creation: KASK & Conservatorium / school of arts Gent, CNSMD de Lyon, Conservatorio di Musica G.B. Martini Bologna, Faculté de Musique Université de Montréal, Festival International du Film d’Aubagne, Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna, FilmFest Gent, Permission Inc. Montréal.
This two-year programme gives advanced students the chance to hone their skills, share their talents and develop their own personality and projects within an international, professional environment. InMICS educates composers who are highly skilled, as well as individual, creative, critically aware, innovative and professional in their approach. By training students with these attributes, InMICS wishes to give them the best possible preparation for shaping tomorrow’s cultural industries.
An essential component of the International Master in Composition for Screen (InMICS) is the InMICS Composer Lab. This programme offers the students the unique opportunity to participate in a series of intensive masterclasses, workshops and training sessions given by renowned professionals. The InMICS Composers Lab is organised by and takes place at the three participating festivals: Film Fest Gent, Festival International du Film d’Aubagne and the Krakow Film Music Festival. The students are immersed into an international professional environment.
InMICS and InMICS Composers Lab were developed with the support of the Creative Europe Culture Programme of the European Union.
We welcome applications from anyone who already composes music for screen. A bachelor’s degree in music or the equivalent is required. Applicants will be assessed first and foremost on their creative abilities, coupled with profound interest in music and visual media.
