We will provide you with the exact audition schedule after the score deadline.
You present the jury with a programme summary stating:
- your name and date of birth
- for each work
- the composer's full name and dates
- the complete name of the work, opus number (if applicable) and date of composition (if known)
- the part you have rehearsed
example: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 - 1791): Sonata for piano in c minor (K. 457), (1784), part I Allegro
You will provide the jury in advance with the scores of each work in PDF format, arranged in the same order as on your programme schedule and scanned in A4 portrait format. This PDF will be uploaded via an online form no later than the entry deadline.
accompaniment during your test
Compositions where an obligatory piano accompaniment or piano reduction (concertos) is provided will be performed with piano accompaniment.
You may be accompanied by a piano accompanist of your own choice.
In the chosen repertoire, no more than 2/3rds may be accompanied. If you opt for piano accompaniment, you should therefore bear in mind that 7 to 8 minutes of your repertoire will be unaccompanied. This does not apply to vocal candidates.
If you wish to make use of a conservatory accompanist, you must inform the student's office at least 14 days before the start of the artistic entrance examinations and ensure that the PDF format of your scores is in our possession. If you have not done this, the conservatory will not provide an accompanist for you. There are no exceptions to this.
You can request accompaniment using the form you use to submit your scores.
No accompanist will be provided for candidates who register later than two weeks before the test. No exceptions will be made to this.
On the day of the entrance examination, there will be time to play with the accompanist from KASK & Conservatorium or with your own accompanist.
The test consists of 3 parts:
- Solfeggio, ear training and general music theory
- Written test
- Practical test
Solfeggio, ear training and general music theory
Suppose you failed this subtest in session May or session July, you may still participate in the practical test and the motivation interview of session May or session July. If you pass the practical test and the motivation interview, we offer you the chance to take a new test in solfeggio, ear training and general music theory in the next session. If you pass this second attempt, you will be admitted to the study.
In session August, the resit for solfège, ear training and general music theory is impossible. However, if necessary, the admissions committee can deliberate for this partial test.
The candidate must provide a written answer to a general question on a current social, cultural and/or artistic issue. The aim is to allow the examination board to get an idea of the candidate's theoretical prior education, gauge the ability to formulate an opinion, develop a line of reasoning and edit a short written text.
This test is a digital writing assignment, specified and due on the dates provided.
You demonstrate your artistic and technical level in the most versatile way possible during the practical instrument/vocal test. You should provide a stylistically varied repertoire of 20-25 minutes of music with sufficient attention to different technical aspects and forms of musical expression, both in historical and contemporary repertoire.

The practical test may include "a prima vista" in addition to one's own repertoire. This always involves a simple fragment of a work from the classical repertoire.
The jury may test the candidate's assimilation ability: the candidate will then be given the opportunity to replay certain parts of the repertoire based on a discussion with the jury and feedback from the judges.
During an individual interview, the candidate's motivation towards an art education in general and the specific field of study in particular will mainly be examined. The chosen repertoire for the practical test and the candidate's experiences regarding the practical test can be a guide here. It is important that the candidate can explain his own choices and clarify his study choices and expectations.
Interests, general and cultural knowledge, thinking skills, creative attitude, insights and communication skills are probed. Important qualities here may include critical sense, involvement, drive, love of art and music, perseverance, self-discipline, sense of (self-)perspective, etc.
In the online version of the practice test, this interview will take place online. A digital invitation will be sent for this.

In this online variant of the practice test, the candidate realises a sound and image recording in which the candidate is recognisable and as fully as possible (hands!) visible.
The conditions regarding piano accompaniment remain unaffected. This recording is uploaded at the latest on the registration deadline.
Please note that locations and times are subject to change. Changes will be announced on the spot.
On the last day of the session (or Monday evening after session 1), there will be deliberations and proclamation including a post-session discussion. During the proclamation, candidates will learn whether they are accepted or not. Immediately after the proclamation there is an opportunity for a debriefing, at which third parties may also be present. An e-mail with the results will be sent out after each proclamation.
