26.05.25, 17:00, An Institution is not an Island
An Institution is not an Island originated from an encounter with a deanery meeting room at KASK & Conservatorium. This ‘Malfait’ room is filled with portraits and busts of central figures of KASK & Conservatorium’s history — with one exception, all portraits are of men.
An Institution is not an Island has invited four artists to intervene in this deanery meeting room and other spaces on campus. The interventions unfold one by one from May 12 until May 26, offering an opportunity to collectively question institutional, infrastructural, historical and spatial hierarchies.
★ Sanie Irsay, What is necessary to change so that everything stays the same?, meeting room and attic.
★ Nikolay Karabinovych, Atlas of Depths, meeting room.
★ Celine Aernoudt, Good Terms Bad Conditions, meeting room.
★ Lázara Rosell Albear, Unsurrounded, Cirque auditorium.
On May 26th from 17:00 we will open the deanery meeting room for you to encounter the three interventions there, and to see Lázara’s performance in the Cirque from 19:00.
