KASKcinema and cheese cooperative Het Hinkelspel are joining forces for a delicious short film evening. Milking film history in search of a cinephile cheese canon, we present a series of short films to delight the senses. Before the screening, we will fill our foyer with a series of tastings from Ghent's most beloved cheese maker. An appetising starter to a programme full of flavours and colours.

The film programme consists of Oh! That Cheese (1916, 17'), a Danish film farce and one of the first examples of cheese in the spotlight. In it, two dandy gentlemen wage war on each other with pieces of stinky cheese in silent slapstick style. The love of cheese takes on dramatic proportions in Pasolini's La Ricotta (1963, 38'). During a film adaptation of the Passion of Jesus, the life of extra Stracci unexpectedly takes on religious proportions when he eats ricotta to the point of indigestion. KASK alumnus Saco Dhondt then brings together the métiers of cheese and filmmaking in Circular Encounters (2018, 14') to create a delicate dance of imagery. The cinematic medium itself becomes a block of Swiss cheese with Stan Brakhage’s Dark Night of The Soul (2002, 3’). We conclude with Wallace & Gromit: A Grand Day Out (1989, 24’). Everyone’s favourite cheese-tasting duo travels to the moon to do some shopping in this crazy adventure.
