26.09.25, 19:30, Musical instrument making classes KASK & Conservatorium, Thomas Langlois, Tetsu Isaji
In the musical instrument making programme, the builders of the future learn the tricks of an ancient craft. An eye for detail, a steady hand, and a passion for music and craftsmanship are essential. The programme focuses primarily on studying and (re)constructing historical instruments. Last year's graduates built a theorbo, a lute, and a clavicytherium (a type of upright harpsichord) with care and precision. Tonight, these unique instruments will be brought to life under the skilled hands of Tetsu Isaji and Thomas Langlois.
Tetsu Isaji is a musicologist and harpsichordist. He studied in Oxford and Cambridge. The young lutenist Thomas Langlois was one of Klara's Twintigers a few years ago. Later this season, he will perform with mezzo-soprano Anna Nuytten as the duo Coordonné.
