27.03.25, 20:30, Transformers
The experimental film series Transformers invites you not just to see transformation, but to experience it. A stain becomes a house, a canvas lives with the emotions of a painter and a film transforms towards music. In playful and creative ways, these works explore identity and show that change can be messy, hilarious and completely imaginative.
We kick off with the ultimate symbol of change: Barbapapa. Next, Manon de Boer's The Untroubled Mind (2016) lets you look at her young son's playful constructions. L'enfer d'Henri Georges Clouzot (2009) by Serge Bromberg and Ruxandra Medreia shows how an unfinished documentary can transform into something new. Cindy Sherman's series Malformed Portraits reflects on the fragmentation of identity, while Identity Slice (2007) by Sebastian Buerkner gives abstract forms an emotional charge. In I am a boy band (2022), Benny Nemer performs all four roles of a boy band, complete with a pop version of an Elizabethan madrigal. We close the evening with a classic Danse serpentine (1896) by G. Méliès, brought back to life.
