22.05.24, 20:30, Santo and Blue Demon vs. Dracula and Wolfman (1973)

Dressed in sweaty spandex, Weird Wednesday pulls off one last performance before diving into summer. In addition to beaming sunshine, feel a hairy fist slap your face with this luchalicious wrestling spectacle. Few heroes are as iconic within Latin American cinema as El Santo. This patron saint of brawling Mexican melodramas became the masked mainstay of a more than 50-title film empire. To choose is to lose, but Santo and Blue Demon vs Dracula and Wolfman is the ideal starting point to begin your pilgrimage into this sample of cult canon.

Although Santo has taken on Dracula on several occasions, the prince of darkness just won't stay in his coffin. With the help of an enchanted medallion (or something similarly vague), vampires and werewolves put aside their differences to complete the conquest of the human world. Only Santo's impressive abs stand in the way of their nefarious plans. Like a true wrestling whirlwind, he and his sidekick/antagonist/neighbour Blue Demon grab the evil by the collar.

This film will be introduced by KASKcinema programmer Lennart Soberon.
