In 2023, landscape and garden architecture organised the "Montavoies" workshop in the French Haut-Jura. The premise was to immerse students for a week, with their feet in the earth, in the world of ancient landscapes. The workshop consisted of analysing historical elements and structures in the landscape. We read old patterns and considered how they could be brought back into the contemporary context. For this we headed for the Haut-Jura in France, to Montavoies (Saint-Claude, Haut-Jura, France), where Wim Cuyvers (1958) has worked as a forestier since 2009, almost exclusively at the refuge de passage Montavoix.
