Up-and-coming composers need work. Commissions need to be written out and experience needs to be gained. That is exactly what the conservatories of Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent and Leuven are doing with this third creation concert. The four to eight lucky ones who will soon share the pantheon with greats such as Čiurlionis, Marić, Schreker and other heroes, may show here how much wiser they have become during five years of study. Deleted harmonies, unfathomable counterpoint and sound-farben melodies that Webern himself could barely match; under the impetus of the Peter Benoit Fund and Roomservice vzw, they wrote a work for small ensemble for this academic year. These works are now presented to you, the audience. Judge for yourself, the future is assured!
