21.10.25, 20:00, Jeanine De Bique & Aaron Wajnberg, Britten, Purcell & Prévin
Trinidadian Jeanine De Bique made a big international splash in 2021 with her debut album Mirrors. Her smooth, clear voice is perfectly suited to the Baroque repertoire, but later styles also come naturally to her.
Text plays a key role in tonight's program. De Bique has chosen Benjamin Britten's Les Illuminations, which he composed to texts by Arthur Rimbaud. André Prévin, the composer of Honey and Rue, also chose poems by a literary giant: Toni Morrison, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature and the Pulitzer Prize. De Bique adds a touch of homemade flair with Five Caribbean Folk Songs. She is accompanied by Aaron Wajnberg, teacher of song and assistant piano at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and one of the most sought-after song accompanists of the moment.
