19.09.25, 19:15, Kandinsky Quartet, Trio Sheliak, KamBrass Quintet, The ECMA Project

The European Chamber Music Academy, or ECMA for short, has been committed to the development of chamber music in Europe for more than twenty years. This year's theme is Less is more – or is it?, a guiding principle that the three selected ensembles have each interpreted in their own way.

The Italian Trio Sheliak, named after a star in the constellation Lyra, places Kurtág and Ravel alongside C.P.E. Bach. The KamBrass Quintet from Barcelona smoothly combines 16th-century Dowland with music that is still fresh off the press, and Berio and Cage also make an appearance. The evening will be rounded off by the Kandinsky Quartet, named not after the painter Wassily, but after its first violinist, Hannah. They too build a bridge between the past and the present with a song from the 15th century, Ravel's String Quartet and Entr'acte by Caroline Shaw.
