In conjunction with the opening of Sidsel Meineche Hansen’s exhibition, Laurent de Sutter and Josefine Wikström will discuss the eerie shifts between subject and object in Hansen’s work. The conversation, organised by Merzedes Sturm-Lie, will focus on concepts of excitation, horror, and pornography, defining Hansen's multifaceted practice.
Laurent de Sutter is professor of legal theory at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Sciences-Po Paris. He has authored 30 award-winning books on law, sex, drugs, images and transgression, published into 15 languages. His most recent works in English include Narcocapitalism: Life in the Age of Anaesthesia (Polity, 2018), After Law (Polity, 2021) and Deleuze's Philosophy of Law (Edinburgh UP, 2023). His Superweak: Thinking in the 21st Century is forthcoming with Polity.
Josefine Wikström is a Swedish researcher and art critic working on the intersection between cultural theory and post-Kantian philosophy with a particular focus on performance and dance within contemporary art. She is a Senior Lecturer in Aesthetics at Södertörns Högskola and is the author of Practices of Relations in Task-Dance and the Event-Score (Routledge 2021) and has published in Radical Philosophy, Dance Chronicle and Performance Research Journal.
