Whorephobia refers to fear, hate or shaming of sexually liberated individuals, or more specifically sex workers. This event will dive into intricate parallels between whorephobia, pornography, art and politics.
An event initiated by KIOSK's artist as public mediator, Merzedes Sturm-Lie, on the occasion of the ongoing exhibition CUM AS YOUR MADNESS by Marijke De Roover.
Lectures and film presentations by:
- Mélanie Weill, a pole dancer and Dr. in philosophy, will give a lecture on the history of pole dance, exploring its connection to whorephobia and different feminist perspectives.
- CLAP! is a trans and non-binary porn collective based in Brussels, Belgium. Founded in 2021 around their shared queerness and desire to produce pornographic content without the weight of traditional hierarchy and power dynamics as well as creating a safe experimentation space. They will present their short movie ‘CLAP’. This short namesake movie is a spirited and spontaneous endeavor, written and shot in 14 hours
- Marianne Chargois is a sex worker, artist, and performer. She creates artistic, feminist, and political events focusing on marginalized bodies and sexualities. Since 2018, she has been organizing SNAP, a festival dedicated to the representation of sex workers and she's part of the Brussels Porn Film Festival core team. She will present her movie ‘The Sewers of Heterosexuality’.
