FoodForward is a partnership between farmers, researchers and other facilitators. The focus is on food forests as an inspiring and innovative business model that unites agriculture and variable ecosystem services. Our network starts from a number of challenges and current needs.

Specifically, we plan:

  1. a market study on an interactive online platform where market opportunities, supply and demand come together. We talk about exchange of finished products but equally services, processing possibilities, raw materials, planting materials and knowledge involved in food forests
  2. an economic analysis, by quantifying and sharing insights on logistics, labour, costs and benefits
  3. further identify and address legislative and regulatory bottlenecks and ambiguities concerning food forests together with the actors involved
  4. develop a practical roadmap and professionally assist applicators in drawing up concrete plans for the establishment of a food forest system (min. 3 during the project period); (5) use principles of food forests as inspiration in terms of diversification for a wider group of farmers from various sectors, through farm visits and communication

FoodForward is a research project of the research centre Futures through Design
