KASK & Conservatorium has the opportunity to award a number of incentive grants to graduating students each year. These grants come from the estates of patrons who, through foundations, funds or legacies, offer posthumous support to promising artists, musicians and designers. The prizes are awarded during the graduation ceremonies.
The amounts vary and depend on the provisions of the patrons. The recipients receive the grant after the graduation ceremonies.

Prize Foundation Horlait-Dapsens
In her will, Mrs Horlait-Dapsens dedicated her entire fortune to the establishment of two public utility institutions. She chose to set up two foundations with the aim of supporting young doctors in their training and helping young artists who are struggling to realise their own work. The foundations were established in 1975, and in 1980 the first Horlait-Dapsens scholarships were awarded to laureates selected by the artistic and medical institutions designated by Mrs Horlait-Dapsens. The Horlait-Dapsens scholarship for artists is intended to finance additional artistic training.
The artists are selected at KASK & Conservatorium by a committee of experts that changes every year and is chaired by the dean. You don't need to apply to take part; all graduating students are eligible. If you're nominated for these foundation prizes, you'll get the chance to explain your work to the committee.
Roger De Conynck Fund for Photography
The Roger De Conynck Fund was established in 2012 by the King Baudouin Foundation. Its aim is to train young photographers and help them develop their professional careers. Roger De Conynck was a philanthropist with a particular love of photography and the creative eye of professional photographers.
An annually changing committee of experts, chaired by the dean, selects the winner. Registration is not required; all graduating photography students are eligible.
A bequest is a provision in a will whereby someone donates part of their assets (property, money, shares, funds, etc.) posthumously to a specific person or charity. Throughout the history of KASK & Conservatorium, various people have bequeathed part of their inheritance to the school with the wish that the interest from these funds be used to give a deserving student a helping hand each year.
The school manages these donations and distributes the amounts in accordance with the conditions attached to them by the legatees. Often, the programmes that students must complete in order to be eligible were specified.
The donations were allocated to KASK & Conservatorium on condition that the conditions attached to them were complied with to the best of their ability, either literally or in accordance with the spirit of the bequest or donation, taking into account all developments since the date on which the donation was made. Some fields of study change their name over time or cease to exist. In such cases, the donation may be used for similar fields. Some prize amounts may be adjusted in line with the current value of the currency.
An annually changing committee of experts chaired by the dean selects the laureates. Registration for participation is not necessary; graduates are automatically eligible.
Bequests:
- De Leu
- Remouchamps
- Desmet
- Samengesteld legaat uit o.a. Audoor, De Guis-Stockman, Preys, Borst, Pycke
- Torck
There are also companies and organisations that wish to encourage one or more students each year. An annually changing committee of experts, led by the dean, selects the winners. Registration is not required; all graduating students are automatically eligible.
