The Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) and the Royal Conservatory constitute the school of arts of HOGENT and Howest. The school brings together talented and motivated students with outstanding educators, active artists, designers and theorists in art and design from all over the world. The mission statement of the school defines its main tasks: development of the arts, education and research in an international perspective.
The diverse range of artistic disciplines housed under the roof of KASK & Conservatorium guarantee mutually inspiring and relatively open programmes. By encouraging cross-fertilisation, the school accomodates the increased importance of interdisciplinarity. Students are also introduced to the numerous theoretical and artistic research projects of our teachers and researchers.
KASK & Conservatorium has two campuses in the heart of Ghent. Ghent boasts a reputation within the international arts scene and is traditionally very popular with students. Not only does this artistic climate form a fertile environment for KASK & Conservatorium, our educational institution also actively participates in it by organising exhibitions, concerts, festivals, lectures and film screenings, among other things.
In 2018, the school of arts expanded to Kortrijk by including Howest's Digital Design and Development (Devine) in its list of programmes. Since then, KASK & Conservatorium has been the school of arts of HOGENT and Howest.
