12.03.24, 20:30, The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

Give yourself over to absolute pleasure, because Film-Plateau presents The Rocky Horror Picture Show! Lovebirds Brad and Janet are trapped in a rain storm and seek shelter at the Victorian mansion of the bizarre Dr Frank-N-Furter. What they don't know is that Frank-N-Furter is actually an alien from the planet Transylvania trying to create the perfect man in his secret laboratory. What follows is an absurd, campy and catchy exploration of sexuality that leaves no one unmoved.

The iconic horror-musical film by Jim Sharman and screenwriter Richard O'Brien is not only an homage to the kitsch horror and sci-fi cult classics of the 1950s and 1960s in a glam-rock twist but also an unforgettable piece of queer culture. After the film initially flopped in mainstream cinemas, The Rocky Horror Picture Show became immortal on the 'midnight movie' circuit, thanks in part to a loyal fanbase that embraced the film screenings as an LGBTQ+ safe space. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a proud celebration of gender anarchy and sexual freedom that happily crushes the social constructs of heteronormativity under its high heels.

This film will be introduced by film scholar Atalya De Cock.
