Oboist Korneel Alsteens (Leuven, °1978) has been active in the Belgian orchestral and chamber music scene for more than twenty years. He studied at the Hoeilaart Academy and later at the Royal Antwerp Conservatory. He became an orchestral musician at an early age and, after gaining a great deal of experience in the European Union Youth Orchestra, among others, he was appointed principal oboist of the Flemish Symphony Orchestra in 2004, a position he still holds with great passion and pleasure.
He tries to pass on the craftsmanship and artistic sense he has acquired over the years to his students at the music academies of Oud-Heverlee, Overijse, Hamme, the art academies of Brussels and Antwerp and KASK & Conservatorium.
