In 1994 Raf Minten completed his studies in saxophone at the Ghent Conservatory under Willy Demey. In this period he participated in several national and international competitions including Tenuto (winner), TROMP music competition Eindhoven (3rd finalist), the first international competition Adolphe Sax (4th finalist), SEMU competition (1st finalist) and the François Daneels competition (1st finalist).
Since 1996 Raf Minten has been part of the Bl!ndman saxophone quartet, where he mainly plays his own music and/or arrangements, from Flemish polyphony to contemporary music. Moreover, they often work together with the world of dance (Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker), theatre (Ivo van Hove) and film.
He also collaborates with various ensembles such as SPECTRA, Ictus, Champs d'Action, Collegium Vocale, Transparant, Huelgas, Wim Mertens, Berlin Consort, Muziekkapel Gidsen, Marine, Air Force and Mucho Gusto.
