28.04.25, 20:00, Aylen Pritchin, Razvan Popovici, Justus Grimm & Diana Ketler, Enescu, Mozart & Korngold
Although slightly less known to the general public, George Enescu is in not a lesser composer than his contemporaries. Justus Grimm and comrades prove that tonight. Admired by Brahms, while Enescu himself mainly admired Wagner, he was slightly too young to actively participate in the war of the Romantics. He moved to Paris, where he was in the circles of Fauré and Massenet. Lovely company, it must be said!
No less extolled was Erich Korngold in his younger years. Hailed by Mahler as the ‘new Mozart’ — a musician who came down from heaven. Korngold later left for Hollywood and is rightly considered a pioneer of film music. The programme features chamber music by both masters.
