Jeroen Van Malderen is a Belgian jazz and commercial trumpet player. Born on 4 June 1978 and raised in Hamme, he trained in classical music at the Lemmens Institute, Leuven, until the age of 18. From then on, he specialised in jazz trumpet at the Conservatories of Brussels (Eric Vloeimans), Rotterdam (Jarmo Hoogendijk) and the Lemmensinstituut Leuven (Bert Joris, Serge Plume) where he obtained his Masters Degree in Jazz Trumpet in 2002.  

On stage, Jeroen has regularly worked as a freelance musician with international and local artists such as El Tattoo Del Tigre, Clouseau, Natalia, Paul Michiels, Rocco Granata, Belle Perez, Chaka Khan, the Pointer Sisters, Cindy Lauper, etc.  

Since 2008, Jeroen has been a member of the world-renowned Brussels Jazz Orchestra with which he made several recordings and collaborated with artists such as Toots Thielemans, Kenny Werner, Maria Schneider, Joe Lovano, Dave Liebman, Tom Harrell, Ambrose Akinmusire, Wynton Marsalis & The LCJO and most recently Camille Bertault. 

In 2022, Jeroen joined the swing jazz septet Lester's Blues, formed and led by Tom Callens, which performs regularly in Europe and abroad.  

As a jazz trumpeter, he works freelance with various jazz, small band and commercial formations such as The Rebirth Collective, Metropole Orkest and others.  

Besides playing, Jeroen holds a teaching position as guest professor of jazz trumpet at KASK & Conservatorium in Ghent and actively works with young people and adults aged 7 to 77, teaching jazz trumpet and jazz combo at various schools in Belgium.
