Pascal Vermeersch (born 1973) holds a Bachelor's degree in graphic design, graduated with honours with a Master's degree in audiovisual arts specialising in animation film (KASK) and attended a postgraduate workshop at the NIAf (Netherlands Institute for Animation Film) in Tilburg. He also attended workshops with Michaël Dudok de Wit, Wendy Tilby and Amanda Forbis, Richard Williams, Joanna Quinn, Mark Baker and Paul Driessen, among others.

He is the animation director of numerous 2D animated feature films, short films and TV specials. His animation talent can be found in more than 30 animated films, including the Oscar-nominated feature films ‘The Secret of Kells’ and ‘A Cat in Paris’ and the César-winning feature film ‘Josep’. He is an annual guest at the Anima Festival and was a member of the jury in 2022.

As an illustrator, he has also worked for VRT/Ketnet. He has illustrated more than 20 picture books, puzzles and games for VRT and designed other merchandise. He has also provided illustrations for a number of picture books for other publishers.

Pascal is passionate about animated films, with a particular interest in lip-syncing, acting, posing, staging, character design and cinematographic storytelling. He is also a cinephile, bookworm, graphic novel collector and music lover.

Pascal teaches part-time at KASK & Conservatorium, works as an art teacher in the 2nd and 3rd bachelor studios and regularly mentors master's students.
