Paul De Maeyer teaches organ, concert coaching and improvisation at academy De Kunstbrug in Ghent. He is also organ teacher at KASK & Conservatorium.

He is a much sought-after international concert organist. He is regularly in demand for his lively improvisations and original programs.  He has performed in numerous organ festivals in Europe and the USA with highlights being recitals at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, the Cavaillé-Coll organ of the Royal Basilica in Madrid, a concert tour in Germany with Brussels Philharmonic and a livestreamed solo recital from New York's Saint Patrick's Cathedral. He is best known for a thriving improvisation practice at the organ that includes live accompaniment of Chaplin films, at the piano and in chamber music settings. As an organ teacher, he prepared about 15 musicians for professional music studies. They then became organist, organ builder, organ teacher, music school director, music director, festival intendant.

Paul recorded several CDs of works by Johann Sebastian Bach, double improvisations with two organs, organ and guitar, organ and cello.

Together with many others he founded De Vlaamse Orgeldagen, organ circle Vzw De Principaal (Halle and Ghent) Bachconcerts Ghent and the groundbreaking culture project 'Hart van Gent'.

As organ consultant, he realized about seven organ projects with released second-hand instruments from the Netherlands and Belgium that were given a prominent place in and around Ghent cultural life. Together with the city services, he organized a successful international colloquium on the Cavaillé-Coll organ of Ghent's St. Nicholas Church. This gave the concrete impetus to restore this unique top instrument from 1856 and engage it in a lively musical practice that will involve the entire community.
