Schering en Inslag
We are nomadic elements within our steady environment; moving and changing is our second nature. Architecture shows the contrary. It is often empty structures that embody an unchanging function. Within this immovable environment, textiles are changeable elements that can close, open, isolate, dress, dampen spaces….
From an urge for systematic changeability, warp and weft explores the possibilities of the age-old weaving technique. It resulted in a series of playful structures, created from the possibilities and limitations of the loom. By means of color, the techniques used become visible. Their pliability and elasticity make them compact and widely applicable in space.
Nele Demeulemeester graduated with this project as a master in visual arts, textile design, 2023.
The graduation projects of our students were all published on the graduation website. You’ll find everyone’s personal page there as well as the complete festival programme.
