03.12.24, 20:30, Paul Haesaerts' films
Belgian artist, critic and filmmaker Paul Haesaerts (1901-1974) made a particularly important contribution to the development of the art documentary — a film genre in which Belgium excelled on the international scene in the 1940s and 1950s. In 1950, Haesaerts achieved international success with his Visite à Picasso, in which, among other things, he showed the famous artist at work using a piece of glass placed between the artist and the camera - the film thus gives us an insight into the artist's creative process. To mark the 50th anniversary of Haesaerts' death, Film-Plateau is honouring the filmmaker with a screening of three remarkable art documentaries.
This evening will be introduced by art history lecturer Steven Jacobs.
