Ommery De Zutter, KIOSKexpoAgendaArtistic activitiesThroughout July and August, Ommery De Zutter inhabited KIOSK as artist in residence. While KIOSK remained closed to the public during the summer, Ommery De Zutter, used the anatomical theater as a map for creating an immersive VR experience.
Ommery De Zutter’s exhibition de Wereldgeest, resulting from this residency, opens on 12 September and will be on view until 4 October.
What happens when creationbecomes materially endless?
When skills as a means of creation begin to play a secondary role?
How would expression unfold then?
In what way would it be different?
Is it valid?
Does it remain valid when it continues to be about itself?
Or does creation then become too entangled in itself?

Does it make sense to investigate the same idea from emptiness when someone has already taken it up from an established position?
Can we accept it when creation is no longer intended for us?
Where does the balance with the Other lie during creation?
Is the imbalance of time and energy with the Other not precisely what is necessary for creation?
Are we also the Other? Are we without the Other?
Does thinking about creation and the Other disrupt the existing balance?
Isn’t it simply obvious that the next forms of creation will move beyond our own abstraction, emerging from semantic-geometric constructions that surpass our own understanding and give rise to new realities?
Veva Leye, Jelle Martens, KIOSKexpoAgendaArtistic activitiesDrawing from seemingly endlessly proliferating word sequences—which arise from a single word through a simple rule and through association—Veva Leye creates montages that present the same words in completely different ways. Uncannily coagulating, these word images expand and contract in an accordion-like movement. A similar rhythm characterizes Jelle Martens’ (photo)graphic registrations that combine fragments, reproductions and trivial observations into layered prints and drawings. Every print layer, every drawing operates as a temporary frame bringing together images that only temporarily solidify, overlap, and fall apart again. Image and language tumble along, stumble upon. Letters form words form images reading looking.

After your first registration via webreg.hogent.be you will receive an e-mail with a link to the application form of KASK & Conservatorium. Here you have to upload a number of documents. You can also indicate whether you are eligible for a scholarship. This step must be completed before the application deadline expires!

After submitting your application form, the admissions officer will check whether all requested documents have been submitted and whether you meet the admission requirements. If all conditions are met, your file will be sent to the orientation committee of your chosen programme. If documents are missing or if you do not meet the admission requirements, we will notify you.
Documents needed
- Identification: ID, passport, residence permit, etc.
We need to be able to read your name clearly on the scan or photo. - Original diploma and supplements
Be sure to check out the info on authenticating your diploma below. - Translation of your diploma and supplements if they are not in Dutch, French, English or German. This must be an official translation into one of these four languages (preferred: English), made by a sworn translator.
- Master proposal or motivation and portfolio
KASK & Conservatorium only accepts true and authentic diploma documents to avoid document fraude. Therefore, depending on the country your diploma and transcripts were issued, you will need either a certification stamp, an apostille stamp or a legalisation stamp. Without having submitted a physical copy containing the original of this stamp, we cannot issue a formal invitation to enroll or enroll you.
To put things clear: you do not need this stamp on your documents to apply and do an interview/audition, but you will need to submit it before you enroll or wish to receive an invitation to enroll. Obtaining these authentications can take up quite a bit of time, so take care of this as soon as you can.

If you passed a test, you may still need to submit physical documents to the admissions officer. Depending on the country where the documents were issued, those documents must have certain stamps. Only on the basis of these authenticated documents can we issue a formal invitation to enrol.
You are required to upload your diploma and transcripts in original language. However, we can only read Dutch, French, English and German documents. If your diploma in original language is not issued in of these 4 languages, you will also be required to upload an official translation into one of these 4 languages (English is preferred) by a sworn translator.
This document contains maximum 1500 words. You explain what your motivation is for entering the postgraduate programme in curatorial studies and describe how your own experiences and ideas are connected to this. You’ll need to allude to what your current background is (studies, professional occupation …) and how these can possibly be an added value to your choice. In your motivation you may use theoretical references and references from the practical (arts) field.

Your curriculum contains at least a detailed overview of your studies, the title of your master thesis (if applicable) and possible additional education programmes or schooling you followed. If applicable, please also mention relevant professional experience.
In the postgraduate programme for Curatorial Studies, the student’s interests and ideas are the starting point. The programme also offers room for the conception and elaboration of the student’s own curatorial projects. It is therefore important that the candidate submit a relatively detailed curatorial project proposal, between 1500 and 2000 words in length, containing the following items:
- A working title
- A clear hypothesis
- Explain how you would like to elaborate on the hypothesis in a practical, technical and theoretical way and state what possible problems might arise in carrying out this project.
- Give a detailed statement of your personal interest towards this hypothesis and if possible state your ambitions towards this project and/or your long term ambitions with the education programme itself.
