Do we dare to question our own thinking?

‘Dominance’ conjures up images of domination by authoritarian leaders. But it often works more subtly.

Dominance is in the big and small stories we tell each other about ourselves and the world, and in the perspective we take in the process. Until we realise that our vision is not the only correct one, we miss out on knowledge we don't even suspect exists.

But can dominance also be useful? How does dominance relate to power and truth? And in what way is the issue also in the discussion on the literary canon?

Warda El-Kaddouri explains why we think what we think and makes an ardent plea to look at reality with multiple eyes.
