A text is a text. The reader can read it. A text can be trusted, just as a reader can be trusted. Every reader will read a text differently, that is inevitable, every reader rewrites the text, that is the agreement between reader and writer. A text needs no introduction, interpretation or keywords. A text does not tolerate publicity. A text is a text.

‘Toujours trop: a call to deflate, de se vid(ang)er.’ Wim Cuyvers wrote this quirky short story commissioned by TAZ and Studium Generale. He brought the text to our stage in November 2016.

Wim Cuyvers is an architect and essayist. He taught at the Dutch Academies of Architecture in Tilburg and Eindhoven, at Sint-Lucas in Ghent and was an advisory researcher at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht.

Published in the ‘Karakters’ series, stimulating literature in pocket format. A collaboration of Studium Generale, HOGENT, Theater aan Zee and Academia Press.
